Mini-CEX

The Mini-CEX (mini-clinical examination) is essentially a way to spot check certain skills you want to improve. Rather than having someone observe you perform a full H&P, you could, for example, decide to have an attending or resident observe you perform one aspect of the physical exam.

The evaluation form is flexible and can accommodate assessment of the following:

History-taking skills

Focused physical examination

• Oral presentation skills (see communications)

• Patient counseling (see communications)

It is a simple form to give a supervisor so you can get immediate, written feedback and document skills that may not always be directly observed.

Submission criteria

Please include in your zip file to Ms. Pipkins at the end of the rotation.
